peas of mind

It is truly and literally the small things that make my little world go around. Growing a garden, especially from seed, has been the simplest form of healing and a heart escape over the last few months. Please meet my very first pea! I grew this bitty guy with Kansas sunshine, love and a lot of help from my aunt robin. Blog family, meet Peater:)

A little pea with a big story…
Gardening is dirt therapy for my aunt robin and I grew up romping around in Michigan soil and watching her spirit soar with every plunge of the shovel. After my sweet grandma passed in March, aunt robin took a “healing tour” {three week vacation} that thankfully ended with a stop in my back yard. Gram was the pillar of strength and sassy in our family {even at 90lbs} and the void in our hearts was and still is rather gigantic. {That is all I can mention for the sake of continuing without a keyboard soaked in tears and sweet thoughts}

On a sunny, spring Kansas day, with fancy new work gloves and mending hearts we planted and laughed {two very wonderful and effortless gifts we worship}. It was a day I will cherish for all my life. On that day this little seed was planted. The very first of my love crop and I did it all with my pea in a pod, my sweet aunt robin. Great memories come in tiny packages {& pods}.

Soak in the small things and have the best day ever sweet peas.

and our little dogs too {home in the heartland}

20120317-144052.jpgin an attempt to find our favorite nook in the nation, my handsome and i have moved a few times in the last couple of years. it is in this adventure that I have come to learn not only is home where my heart is but home is where my handsomes reside.

in a land with ruby slippers a plenty we found a sweet little house {in Kansas}. a short walk away from farmers market and a charming small downtown area, the house is about sixty years old and a home with a story is so up my alley. i have always had a soft spot for houses with true character.

although we live in dorthy’s no place like home, for jake and i closing our eyes tight and clicking our heels 3 times lands us in negative temperatures. while Michigan is where the pieces of heart live it is certainly not where our dreams live. life for us is a wild little adventure and finding the perfect spot in this fabulous little country is our goal.

finally having a house {though rented} has allowed my inner creativity to soar. page after page in my ”sweet little nest” book has led this mind to overflow with fun ideas of repurposed treasures and tiny projects. our new little home is the perfect balance of cozy charm and modern chic.

i am excited to continue to share my ideas as well as some personal twists on borrowed thoughts. welcome to our sweet little nest where our treasures and love have found a place to live.

love birds live to feather their nest.
